The year 2022-23 marks the beginning of the Platinum-Jubilee celebrations of India's independence from the British. Projects and activities under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' initiative will add new colors to the annual celebrations. The winners of the Vande Bharatam dance festival will be seen performing at the Rajpath. The competition was organized under the banner 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' to promote top dancing talent from across the country.
The New Central Vista
From India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the country is all set to host the Happy Republic Day Parade 2022 at the newly renovated Rajpath.
As confirmed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the final work on the Rajpath is progressing rapidly to complete the project before January 26 since the parade on the Rajpath. The ambitious project was launched as a part of the redevelopment of Central Vista, which also includes the construction of a new Parliament and Central Secretariat buildings before 2023. The 3 km long stretch will include new features such as increased tree-cover and improvised landscape, permanent bridges over water canals, walkways with increased width, lighting and toilet facilities, etc.
Painted scroll depicting Freedom Struggle
To mark 75 years of Indian Independence, the National Gallery of Modern Art will display a 750-meter-long scroll depicting the tales of valor in the freedom struggle on the Rajpath on Happy Republic Day Parade 2022.
The massive artwork under the theme of 'Ek Bharat - Shrestha Bharat' will reflect the local artifacts of Pattachitra, Talpatra Chitra, Manjusha, Madhubani, and Jadu Patua to name a few.
“Ten giant scrolls of approx 750 meters will be an integral part of Happy Republic Day Parade celebrations 2022,” the Press Information Bureau tweeted while briefing about the initiative.
A Tribute to Netaji
The Central Government has decided to include Subhas Chandra Bose's birthday, which falls on 23 January, in the annual Happy Republic Day Parade 2022 celebrations.
Hence, from this year the Republic Day celebrations will start from January 23 instead of January 24 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Last year, the PM had declared 23 January as 'Parakram Diwas' to highlight the importance of Netaji's leadership in the freedom struggle.
